Why Did These Four 18-Wheelers Crash Into Each Other?

A crash in late October left two men dead on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. On the afternoon of October 30, the accident happened as eastbound traffic came to a stop due to congestion caused by another accident. The driver of a Peterbuilt 18-wheeler failed to slow down as he approached the upcoming congestion. He smashed into a Freightliner truck, which then was pushed forward into a 2013 International truck. The Freightliner overturned and the 2013 International was pushed forward into a 2016 International truck. The driver and passenger of the first truck were killed. Massive I-10 Crash Throws Three People Off Bridge

A serious accident over the Bonnet Carre Spillway led to the ejection of three people from two vehicles over the side of the bridge. The accident occurred when an 18-wheeler traveling westbound over the bridge hit a tow truck that was loading an SUV onto the back. All three vehicles caught fire. The driver and passenger of the 18-wheeler as well as the driver of the SUV were thrown into the spillway. Fire crews managed to rescue the three, who were hospitalized with moderate injuries. The accident led to a spill of diesel fuel and other products from the 18-wheeler. Traffic was halted for more than seven hours as cleanup crews dealt with the accident.
