Pedestrian Shot After Road Rage Incident

In an extreme incident of road rage in New Iberia, a man in the late hours of Saturday night was shot twice by a passenger of a white truck. The pedestrian victim in the road rage shooting was walking on New Horizons Drive. As the white pick-up truck flew past him going way over the speed limit, the pedestrian called out to it, saying “slow down!” The truck came to a stop farther down the road and a man emerged from the passenger side, firing two shots at the pedestrian before running away on foot.

Thankfully the pedestrian survived the incident and is currently in recovery from his wounds.  Many victims of road rage suffer from emotional and physical trauma long after an incident gets out of hand. While the shooting is an extreme example of intentional intent to harm, road rage can lead to serious injuries even when the person displaying road rage did not intend to literally harm the other person. However, despite a lack of intent, drivers who are at fault in an accident can be held liable for the pain and suffering of the victim.
