What Parents Should Know About the ‘100 Deadliest Days of Driving’

If you are the parent of a teenager with access to a vehicle, you should pay close attention to this blog post. You may be unaware that Memorial Day is the start of what traffic safety experts refer to as the 100 Deadliest Days of Driving for teenagers. AAA’s Foundation for Traffic Safety has kept annual statistics on the number of car crashes involving teenagers during this ‘100 days’. According to AAA, from 2010 to 2014, more than 5,000 teenagers lost their lives during the 100 deadliest days. These numbers amount to a 16 percent increase in car crashes starting on Memorial Day and lasting throughout the summer. Many of these crashes are preventable.
