Fatal Louisiana Car Accident May Be Linked To Takata

Our coverage of the Takata airbag recall continues with some sad news. It appears that a Louisiana woman may have become the latest victim of the dangerous part defect. Six deaths have been confirmed as related to the defective airbags and if the investigation confirms it, this latest fatality may be the fourth in the U.S. and the seventh worldwide. The 22-year-old Lafayette woman was driving her car late at night when she collided with a utility pole. Her car’s airbag went off and showered her in metal shrapnel, which resulted in injuries that left her hospitalized for four days before she eventually passed on. Two days after the car accident, and two days before her death, the Lafayette woman received a recall notice about her car.
