Speeding Possibly the Cause of I-10 Rollover Accident

In 2012, 37 percent of male drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were involved in fatal crashes were speeding at the time of the collision, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). While thankfully no one was killed, multiple people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 that authorities believe was caused when a 19-year-old driver was speeding through traffic.

According to KBMT-TV, the incident began when the 19-year-old driver of a Ford pickup truck was speeding while traveling west on I-10, leading it to rear-end a Nissan. Hitting the Nissan forced the Ford into a rollover during which it collided with a Honda van.

Following the wreck, three people were taken to area hospitals with injuries, including a 22-year-old passenger in the Nissan and the driver and a passenger from the Honda. Neither the driver of the Nissan nor the driver of the Ford were hurt in the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck received a ticket for Failure to Control Speed.
