Slip and Fall Work Accidents

Slips and falls are one of the most common types of work accident. The National Safety Council reports that these injuries account for more than 20 percent of all workplace injuries, translating into more than one million workers’ comp claims annually.

Most slips and falls lead to minor soft tissue injuries, like sprained tendons, ligaments and muscles. However, slips and falls are also a major contributor to serious injuries such as traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.

Employers are bound by Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations that require potential hazards that can cause slips and falls to be addressed in a reasonable and timely manner. When a hazard leads to a slip and fall, the employer may be responsible for that injury.
